Union Parish Education: Fewer students enrolled in Union Parish School District schools in 2021-22 school year

The only school district in Union Parish suffered declining enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 1,888 students in the halls of Union Parish School District schools, 2.2% lower than the year before.

Enrollment in Union Parish was steady compared to the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.5% of them were boys, and 48.5% were girls.

The most represented ethnicity among Union Parish School District students was Black or African American, accounting for 43.1% of the student population.

Union Parish School District has a main office in Farmerville and is the only school district within Union Parish.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students in Louisiana, which is worse than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.

The majority of Louisiana students were either white (48%) or Black (37%) in the 2021-22 school year.
