Join  the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, New Orleans Regional Black Chamber  of Commerce, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana, and the Gulf  South LGBTQ+ Chamber for an introduction to City contract procurement.  Our speaker will provide insight into the registration process, updating  existing supplier profiles, responding to a solicitation, and payment  process for City contracts.

Speaker:

Julien Meyer - Chief Procurement Officer

City of New Orleans Office of Procurement/Bureau of Purchasing

Julien Meyer is a French-trained lawyer who came to live in New  Orleans in 2005. He joined the City Attorney's office in 2012 as a  member of the Contracts Group. In 2018 he became the Chief Procurement  Officer and head of the Bureau of Purchasing. Julien directs a team of  14 staff who assist 30+ city departments in purchasing goods and  services.

Benefits of obtaining City contracts can include:

- Assured Payment: while City's payment terms are NET30, a city contract can allow vendors to rely on receiving steady monthly revenue.

- Strengthened Company Value: having city contracts can make your  company more valuable when it's time to sell or apply for a business  loan or line of credit. Contracts can be passed on to the buyers of your  business, making your company a more attractive acquisition.

- Finding More Opportunities: having a City contract can increase your networking potential and help you gain higher levels of trust with future clients.

- Advantages for socially and economically disadvantaged businesses:  the Bureau of Purchasing works closely with the Mayor's Economic  Development Office and the Office of Supplier Diversity to ensure that  City departments give due consideration to contracting with socially and  economically disadvantaged businesses.
