ULM’s track and field team secured three event wins at the LSU Bayou Bengal meet in Baton Rouge on Friday. The victories came from Stafon Roach in the triple jump, Joshua Gill in the men’s 3000m, and Tuva Sandberg in the women’s 3000m. This marks the second consecutive week that ULM athletes have returned from an indoor meet with three gold medals.
The Warhawks recorded a total of 17 podium finishes—ten for the men and seven for the women. Both men’s and women’s 3000m races saw ULM athletes take all top three spots. In the men’s race, Chase Gunn finished second and River Richard took third alongside Gill’s win. For the women, Anna Naff was runner-up while Rebekka Flotho placed third behind Sandberg.
Other notable performances included Gionni Wiltz taking silver in both long jump and high jump events. In men’s weight throw, Benedikt Schweizer earned second place and Francisco Calhau finished third. Demarko Lawler claimed bronze in the men’s triple jump.
On the women’s side, Maya Nobes finished second in the 800m, while Cora Burger was third in triple jump. Sydney Lake started off with a podium finish by placing third in weight throw. The men’s 4x400m relay team finished third; their female counterparts placed second.
The Warhawks will pause competition next week before resuming their indoor season at the UAB Green and Gold Invite in Birmingham.
