The University of Louisiana Monroe track and field team will begin its outdoor season with a trip to Lake Charles, Louisiana, for the McNeese Cowboy Relays from Friday, March 13, through Saturday, March 14.
The event will feature competition against the host school McNeese as well as Sun Belt Conference rival Ragin’ Cajuns. The meet marks the start of the Warhawks’ outdoor campaign after their indoor season.
According to the schedule released by ULM, Friday’s field events will begin with men’s and women’s hammer throw at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., followed by javelin throws. Long jumps and women’s pole vault are set for 11 a.m., with triple jumps and men’s pole vault at 1 p.m. Shot put is scheduled for noon, while high jumps and discus throws will take place at 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
Running events on Friday are set to start at 12:10 p.m. with the 2000-meter steeplechase. This will be followed by the 4×200-meter and 4×800-meter relays. The schedule continues with the 400-meter hurdles at 1:20 p.m., then moves into the 4×100-meter relay, the 3000-meter run, and the 100-meter dash. Sprint medleys are also planned before concluding with women’s 100-meter hurdles, men’s 110-meter hurdles, the 1500 meters, and finally the 4×400-meter relays.
The meet provides an early opportunity for ULM athletes to compete outdoors against conference opponents as they prepare for upcoming meets in their spring schedule.
