The University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) track and field team will compete in the Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational from Friday, April 10, through Saturday, April 11. The event marks the third consecutive weekend that ULM has participated in a meet in Texas.
The invitational will feature teams including host school Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Texas. Tulane will represent in-state competition for ULM.
According to the schedule released by organizers, Friday’s events begin with field competitions at 10 a.m., followed by running events starting at 6 p.m. Field events on day one include discus, hammer throw, long jump, and pole vault invite. Track races such as the 200 meters, 400-meter hurdles, 800 meters, and 1500 meters are scheduled before concluding with men’s and women’s 5000-meter runs later in the evening.
Day two follows a similar structure with field events starting at 10 a.m., featuring women’s javelin throw first. Other field contests include triple jump, shot put, high jump, and regular pole vault events. Relay races for day two consist of the men’s and women’s 4×100 meter relay as well as the closing men’s and women’s 4×400 meter relay. Additional running events include women’s 100-meter hurdles, men’s 110-meter hurdles, sprints such as the men’s and women’s open hundreds and four hundreds along with the steeplechase.
Last weekend saw ULM split its squad between two meets: The Texas Relays in Austin and Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos. Francisco Calhau stood out by placing first (65.14m) at Texas State University’s meet while also taking third (65.67m) at another event in Texas—both results would lead Sun Belt Conference performance lists for hammer throwers this season. Nathan Wade finished second while Stafon Roach took third place during long jump competitions.
Looking ahead after this weekend’s invitational meet at College Station—the Warhawks plan to participate next week in both Wake Forest Invitational held April 16-17 in Winston-Salem North Carolina—and Jim Mize Relays set for April 18th.
