The University of Louisiana Monroe softball team will host Appalachian State for a three-game series beginning Friday, April 10, at the ULM Softball Complex. The Warhawks, with a record of 26-18 overall and 8-4 in Sun Belt Conference play, will face the Mountaineers on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday at noon. All games are set to stream on ESPN+ with live stats available online.
This matchup marks the first time since 2022 that App State visits Monroe. ULM holds a narrow lead in the all-time series with a 13-12 advantage; however, when playing in Monroe, App State leads by one game. Last season’s meetings took place in Boone where ULM clinched the final two games of the series. The last home series win for ULM over App State was in 2017.
Appalachian State enters the weekend with a 24-13 overall record and is currently 4-8 within conference play. The Mountaineers recently swept Gardner-Webb and lead their conference in several offensive categories including slugging percentage (.582), runs batted in (263), and scoring (7.84 per game). Makayla McClain leads most offensive statistics for her team while pitcher Sophie Moshos has posted a team-best earned run average of 3.25 across more than one hundred innings.
In their previous outing, ULM secured its final midweek victory of the season by defeating Louisiana Tech 3-1 behind key performances from Olivia Faggard and Brooklin Lippert on offense and Ashanti McDade on defense.
The Warhawks have also achieved milestones this year: they remain ranked among national mid-major programs according to D1Softball (No.17) and Softball America (No.21), both released April 6; they celebrated their five-hundredth win at home since opening their complex in March of 1984; and redshirt freshman Olivia Faggard has excelled after taking over first base duties midseason.
Looking ahead, ULM will travel next week to face Georgia State starting Friday.
