The ULM softball team secured a 12-4 win over Grambling State in a five-inning game at the ULM Softball Complex, bringing their home record to seven victories this season. The Warhawks collected 14 hits during the game, which was highlighted by strong performances from several players.

Grambling State started with two runs in the first inning after Logan Ray Gaspar hit a two-RBI single. ULM responded quickly in the bottom of the inning. A lead-off walk put a runner on base for ULM, followed by an RBI double from Meagan Brown and an RBI single from Morgan Brown that tied the score. Maryssa Zenzen then hit an inside-the-park home run, giving ULM a 4-2 lead after one inning.

In the second inning, pitcher Skylar Waggoner struck out three Grambling State batters to end their turn at bat. Offensively, Kelsey Kovar led off with a single and later scored when Meagan Brown hit a triple. Morgan Brown added another run with a double, increasing ULM’s lead.

Grambling State narrowed the gap in the third inning with Kamryn Broussard hitting a lead-off double and scoring on subsequent plays. However, Kovar responded for ULM by driving in Kailey Monsef as ULM maintained control of the game.

The fourth inning saw no runs from either side. In the fifth, Elle Carter reached third base following an error after her bunt single. Kovar then drove her in with an RBI double and later stole home herself. Additional hits from Meagan Brown and Morgan Brown set up Kennan Nunamaker to walk off the game with a single.

This match marked the first time since 2022 that three different Warhawks—Meagan Brown, Morgan Brown, and Kelsey Kovar—each recorded three hits in one game. Maryssa Zenzen also achieved her fifth multi-hit game of the season. Both Brown sisters had three RBIs each; Kovar and Zenzen contributed two RBIs apiece.

Waggoner earned credit for the win after pitching four innings with six strikeouts and allowing only one earned run. Maddie Nichols provided relief for one inning without allowing any hits while striking out two batters.

ULM will participate in its final nonconference tournament of the season this weekend at Central Arkansas’ Milisa Moore/Shane Lamb Tournament, starting against Central Arkansas on Friday at 4 p.m.
