The University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) baseball team, holding a record of 19-15, will travel to Boone, North Carolina for a Sun Belt Conference weekend series against Appalachian State from Friday, April 10 through Sunday, April 12.
This matchup marks the 23rd meeting between the two programs. Appalachian State leads the all-time series with a record of 12-10. The teams last met in a three-game series in 2025, where App State won games one and three by run-rule margins while ULM took game two with a score of 13-11.
Appalachian State enters the series with an overall record of 17-14 and stands at tenth place in the conference with a Sun Belt mark of 5-7. The Mountaineers have won their last three games and recently secured a series win over Marshall. Steven Smith leads App State’s offense with a .398 batting average and five home runs this season. On the mound, Gage Peterson has recorded an earned run average (ERA) of 1.60 across 45 innings pitched and has struck out 61 batters.
ULM comes into the weekend after defeating Mississippi Valley State in their most recent game by a score of 9-4. Marcus Aranda hit his fourth home run in five games during that contest, while Micah Dean contributed with a three-run homer late in the game. Bryce Blaser achieved four hits on the night—matching his career high—and Cash Dabbs earned his first win this season by pitching four scoreless innings to close out the victory.
Several Warhawks hitters have made notable contributions this year. Davis Mauzy has collected hits in all but two games so far and is batting .368 for ULM; Danye Wray leads the team with eight home runs and holds a .625 slugging percentage—ranking ninth within the conference—with an additional .317 batting average and twenty-seven runs batted in (RBI). Freshman Sutton Lewis made headlines by hitting two three-run homers on opening weekend against Central Arkansas—the only freshman to do so that weekend within Sun Belt play—while Wray followed up with multiple home runs during subsequent non-conference matchups.
The Warhawks started their conference schedule strong by sweeping Texas State for their first sweep over any Sun Belt opponent since 2024 and first sweep over Texas State since 2001. They are currently tied for second place in conference standings at seven wins and five losses after opening league play at three wins without defeat—their best start since beginning four-and-zero back in the spring of 2007.
