ULM baseball lost to Southeastern with a score of 16-6 on Wednesday evening in Monroe, Louisiana. The Warhawks, now holding an 8-7 record, allowed 16 runs on 15 hits and issued a total of 14 walks along with three hit batters. These pitching difficulties resulted in 17 free passes for Southeastern batters.
The game began with ULM holding Southeastern scoreless in the first inning. Davis Mauzy singled and Bryce Blaser walked to put two runners on base without any outs, but ULM was unable to capitalize as the next three batters were retired.
Southeastern took control early, scoring four runs in the second inning, including two off a single by Blaise Priester and another via a wild pitch. By the end of the third inning, the Lions had built an 8-0 lead.
Dayne Wray put ULM on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third with his fifth home run of the season. However, Southeastern continued to add runs and extended their lead to nine by the fourth inning.
Jackson Landry contributed offensively for ULM with a bases-loaded double that brought in four runs during the fifth inning. Despite this effort, Southeastern quickly responded by adding more runs in subsequent innings.
Landry led ULM with three RBIs while Wray recorded two hits and multiple RBIs as well.
After being swept in this series against Southeastern, ULM will travel to Arlington, Texas for a weekend series against UT Arlington beginning Friday, March 6 at 6 p.m.
