Local Ouachita Parish businessman Jimmy Tyson has received the endorsement of RED PAC in his campaign for District B police juror in the parish. RED PAC, a group dedicated to electing conservatives at the local level, has endorsed Tyson and other candidates based on what they say are his commitments to conserve private property rights, champion government transparency, uphold fiscal discipline, and advocate for rural economic development.
According to the Secretary of State's office, Tyson, a Republican, will face incumbent Police Juror Jack Clampit during the October 14th election. All six of the parish's police juror seats will be up for election. Each elected police juror will serve a four-year term.
The police jury board in Ouachita Parish acts as both a legislative and administrative body. They are responsible for enacting ordinances, setting policy, preparing the budget, and deciding how money is spent, among other duties.
In a video interview with myarklamiss.com, Tyson emphasized his experiences, having had over 30 years of experience in the construction business and having worked as a farmer. "I'm representing the common man," Tyson told the interviewer.
This upcoming election will be a rematch between Tyson and Clampit. In the previous cycle, Tyson was defeated by the incumbent Clampit by just 511 votes.
In the release announcing the endorsements of Tyson and other candidates across the state, Kevin Gardner, Executive Director of RED PAC, stated that "these individuals represent the very essence of conservative values. Their commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and local development will undoubtedly serve their communities well. We at RED PAC are proud to support them and encourage voters to recognize their potential in the upcoming elections."
