Enrollment in West Carroll Parish School District schools decreased from previous year

The only school district in West Carroll Parish suffered declining enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 1,809 students in the halls of West Carroll Parish School District schools, 4.8% lower than the year before.

Enrollment in West Carroll Parish was steady compared to the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 52.2% of them were boys, and 47.8% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 76.9% of the West Carroll Parish School Districts total enrollment.

West Carroll Parish School District has a main office in Oak Grove and is the only school district within West Carroll Parish.

Only 22% of Louisiana’s teachers are Black or Latino, compared to about 48% of the state's K–12 students who identify as either race.

The majority of Louisiana students were either white (48%) or Black (37%) in the 2021-22 school year.
