More students enrolled in Madison Parish’s only school district in 2021-22 school year

The only school district in Madison Parish had rising enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 1,192 students in the halls of Madison Parish School District schools, 4.5% higher than the year before.

Enrollment in Madison Parish bucked the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.8% of them were boys, and 48.2% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were Black or African American, representing 94.9% of the Madison Parish School Districts total enrollment.

Madison Parish School District has a main office in Tallulah and is the only school district within Madison Parish.

The majority of Louisiana students were either white (48%) or Black (37%) in the 2021-22 school year.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students in Louisiana, which is worse than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.
