East Carroll Parish Education: Fewer students enrolled in East Carroll Parish School District schools in 2021-22 school year

The only school district in East Carroll Parish suffered declining enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 789 students in the halls of East Carroll Parish School District schools, 4.5% lower than the year before.

Enrollment in East Carroll Parish was steady compared to the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.8% of them were boys, and 48.2% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were Black or African American, representing 99.1% of the East Carroll Parish School Districts total enrollment.

East Carroll Parish School District has a main office in Lake Providence and is the only school district within East Carroll Parish.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students in Louisiana, which is worse than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.

The majority of Louisiana students were either white (48%) or Black (37%) in the 2021-22 school year.
