City of West Monroe announces date change for Tree Lighting Ceremony to Dec. 1

The City of West Monroe has announced a date change for its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. The event has been moved to Thursday, December 1 due to the chance of inclement weather Tuesday evening.

The ceremony will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at the West Monroe City Hall parking lot located at 2305 N. 7th Street. The public is invited to view the official lighting of the City Hall Christmas Tree as well as several live Christmas Trees decorated by local schools and organizations.

The event will include the singing of Christmas Carols by local school choirs and musicians and complimentary refreshments. Children are encouraged to drop off their letters to Santa Claus. The lighting ceremony is free and open to the public.

Attendees are asked to bring donations of new, unwrapped toys to place under the City Hall Christmas Tree. Donated items will be distributed to needy families this holiday season by the West Monroe Fire Department.
