NELA SHRM and Louisiana Small Business Development Center(SBDC) at ULM will hold a Diversity Conference Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We are excited that SBDC has graciously agreed to co-sponsor as we both work to strengthen local business leaders in our community.
This year, they are presenting two dynamic speakers, John Green, Regional Director of Diversity and Inclusion for Ochsner Health, and Lyla Corkern, Owner/CEO of Finding Solace, LLC.
John Green will present: “Embracing the Power of Inclusivity (A Conversation)”
Overview: We dive into what true inclusion means, how we all navigate unconscious biases, what it feels and looks like, and how we as individuals should embrace the journey that is diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Lyla Corkern will present: "Advocating for Mental Health Needs of Diverse Populations in the Workplace".
Objectives:
-Common mental health issues within different diverse populations
-The stressors faced inside and outside the workplace
-Their potential for limited access to care and impact of ongoing issues
-Ways that we can advocate for mental health support and improve workplace experience.
