Mark your calendar for Folk Life Day on Saturday, April 30th, when Discovery Place-Union Museum of History and Art will host the event.
Music groups announced for Folk Life Day
Six musical groups will grace the Haywagon Stage at the second annual Union Parish Folk Life Day on Saturday, April 30. The event, presented by Union Museum of History and Art, is a celebration of the region’s heritage through music, foods, dance, skills, and crafts. It will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum area, 211 N. Main Street, Farmerville. Admission is free.
The lineup of events on the Haywagon Stage, sponsored by Walmart Foundation, is the following:
10 a.m. -- Piney Hills Bluegrass band
11 a.m. -- Ouachita Strummers dulcimer group
12 p.m. -- One Step Higher gospel group
1 p.m. – Lye Sudz folk group & Marjorie Albritton, kettle drums
2 p.m. – Holmesville Baptist Church gospel group
3 p.m. -- Amanda McDowell, singer/guitar
Throughout the day: Folk dancing by The Dance Studio of Union Parish.
Master of ceremonies will be Mike Duty.
