The University of Louisiana Monroe men’s basketball team is set to play its final road game of the 2026 season against South Alabama in Mobile. The game will take place on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
This matchup marks the 36th meeting between the Warhawks and Jaguars, with South Alabama leading the series 19-16. Their previous encounter this season ended in a double-overtime victory for South Alabama, who overcame a 14-point deficit in the last three minutes of regulation to win 96-92. In 2025, ULM won both games against South Alabama.
South Alabama enters the contest with a 10-6 record in Sun Belt Conference play and currently holds second place, trailing App State by half a game. The Jaguars recently defeated Troy 65-54 at home. Chaze Harris leads South Alabama in scoring with an average of 18.9 points per game, which is also the highest in the conference. Other key contributors include Adam Olsen (16.4 points), Peyton Law (12.8 points and a team-leading six rebounds per game), and Jayden Cooper (11.4 points).
For ULM, four players are averaging double-digit points this season. Krystian Lewis leads with 18.3 points per game and has had notable performances, including five consecutive games scoring over 20 points from January 30 through February 11 and a career-high of 33 points against Arkansas State. Lewis also leads his team in assists (3.3) and steals (1.6). Other top scorers are MJ Russell (15.4), Lavell Brodnex (14.8), and Renars Sondors (11.2).
Lavell Brodnex has made an impact since joining ULM on November 13, averaging 8.3 rebounds per game and recording nine double-doubles—second most in the Sun Belt this season—with a personal best of 18 rebounds against Arkansas Baptist.
Both MJ Russell and Krystian Lewis rank among league leaders for playing time; Russell averages just under 36 minutes per game, placing him third in the conference and among national leaders, while Lewis follows closely behind.
ULM has consistently drawn fouls throughout the season, attempting double-digit free throws in all but two games—including making a season-high of 31 out of 41 attempts versus Arkansas Baptist—and ranks near the top nationally for total free throws made by Lewis.
Three-point shooting has been another strength; ULM hit a season-best nineteen three-pointers against South Alabama on December 17—the most by any Sun Belt team this year—with eight from Lewis alone.
The last meeting between these teams required double overtime at Fant-Ewing Coliseum on December 17, marking only the fourteenth such occurrence for ULM’s program history.
