Congresswoman Julia Letlow joined State Superintendent Cade Brumley and U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon in Baton Rouge to visit Great Hearts Harveston Charter School. The event marked the start of Secretary McMahon’s “Return Education to the States” Tour.
During the visit, the group observed several classrooms and spoke with teachers about effective ways to improve student learning.
“It was an honor to welcome Secretary McMahon to Baton Rouge and to see innovation on full display in our classrooms. I share Secretary McMahon’s vision of empowering states to lead on education and strengthening the role of charter schools like Great Hearts Harveston,” said Congresswoman Letlow. “Educational outcomes in Louisiana are on the rise, and I’ll continue working with the Trump Administration to ensure that every child has access to a quality education that is driven by state and local leaders.”
Letlow is a member of the House Education and Workforce Committee. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication, has worked at both the University of Louisiana Monroe and Tulane University, and graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree.
Julia Letlow has represented Louisiana’s 5th district in Congress since 2021 after replacing Ralph Abraham (https://letlow.house.gov/about). She was born in Monroe, Louisiana, in 1981, is currently 42 years old, and lives in Start.
