Congresswoman Julia Letlow, who represents Louisiana’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed issues of public safety and immigration enforcement in a series of posts on her social media account.
On September 8, 2025, Letlow expressed support for increased security measures in New Orleans, stating, “I welcome a National Guard presence in New Orleans, an incredible city full of culture that needs help fighting crime and improving public safety.”
Later that day, she commented on the state’s approach to immigration enforcement: “Louisiana is leading the way in cracking down on illegal immigration and fulfilling President Trump’s promise to Make America Safe Again.”
On September 10, Letlow responded to news of violence at Utah Valley University with a message of support: “Praying for Charlie Kirk and his family following the terrible shooting at Utah Valley University.”
Letlow has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after succeeding Ralph Abraham. She previously held office in the Louisiana House of Representatives. Born in Monroe, Louisiana in 1981 and currently residing in Start, Letlow graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a bachelor’s degree in 2002.
