Congresswoman Julia Letlow, who has represented Louisiana’s 5th District in the U.S. Congress since 2021, recently shared several updates on legislative developments and initiatives affecting her constituents. Letlow, a Monroe native and University of Louisiana at Monroe graduate, focused her recent communications on infrastructure improvements, agricultural policy advancements, and family support measures.
On July 14, 2025, Letlow announced the designation of the Ouachita River as a U.S. Marine Highway. She stated that “The designation of the Ouachita River as a U.S. Marine Highway will help unlock new economic development in rural Louisiana. Proud to have requested this designation from @SecDuffy that will increase investment in Louisiana’s waterways infrastructure.”
Later that day, Letlow highlighted progress made by the Big Beautiful Bill for rural America. In her post dated July 14, 2025, she said: “The Big Beautiful Bill made significant progress for rural America by updating reference prices for commodities and providing tax relief for farmers and landowners.
As we move into the second half of the year, our farmers still need the certainty of a full five-year Farm Bill.”
In another statement on July 14, 2025, Letlow discussed provisions within the Big Beautiful Bill aimed at supporting working families. She wrote: “From increasing the child tax credit to improving support for paid family leave and child care, the Big Beautiful Bill puts working families first.
