Congresswoman Julia Letlow, who represents Louisiana’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on social media regarding new tax deductions for seniors and working-class families, as well as her response to a shooting incident at Fort Stewart.
On August 6, 2025, Letlow announced on her Twitter account: “In the One Big Beautiful Bill recently passed by Congress, we provided an additional $6,000 tax deduction for many Seniors living on fixed incomes.” Later that day, she posted about the broader impact of the legislation: “The working class tax cuts from the One Big Beautiful Bill will provide relief for parents, seniors, service workers and more!”
Also on August 6, Letlow addressed a violent event in Georgia: “I’m praying for the victims of the tragic shooting at Fort Stewart in Georgia. Thank you to the first responders who responded quickly and saved lives, and to all of our military families for their service and sacrifice.”
Letlow has served in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Ralph Abraham. She previously held office in the Louisiana House of Representatives. Born in Monroe, Louisiana in 1981 and currently residing in Start, Letlow graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a BA in 2002.
