Congresswoman Julia Letlow, who represents Louisiana’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on recent legislative actions and local initiatives through a series of posts on her social media account in mid-August 2025.
On August 13, Letlow highlighted increased federal support for Louisiana as a result of new legislation, stating, “As a result of the One Big Beautiful Bill, Louisiana will see more funding to protect our coastline and ramp up our energy security. Louisiana is leading the way in unleashing American-made energy!”
Later that day, she discussed education policy following a visit with Secretary McMahon and Cade Brumley to a charter school in Baton Rouge: “Loved welcoming @EdSecMcMahon to Baton Rouge alongside @cadebrumley to tour Great Hearts Harveston Charter School and see education in action! It’s time to return education policy to the states and further empower local leaders to do right by our children.”
On August 14, Letlow posted about collaborative efforts during the congressional recess period: “The August Work Period is for listening, collaborating, and coming together to solve problems. Brought together a great group of Northeast Louisiana elected officials to discuss how we can partner to improve local infrastructure and public safety.”
Letlow has represented Louisiana’s 5th District since 2021 after succeeding Ralph Abraham. She previously served in the Louisiana House of Representatives and was born in Monroe, Louisiana in 1981. Letlow graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a BA in 2002.
