Congresswoman Julia Letlow, who represents Louisiana’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several issues in a series of posts on her official X account this week.
On August 28, Letlow thanked Secretary of Education Ed McMahon for his role in the rollout of the FAFSA program, stating: “Thank you @EdSecMcMahon for your commitment to a successful FASFA rollout! As I pointed out at the time, the prior Administration failed to deliver this crucial student aid tool in a timely manner.”
Later that day, Letlow commented on a regional economic initiative involving Radiance Technologies and Louisiana Tech University. She wrote: “The new partnership between Radiance Technologies and @LATech will boost our North Louisiana economy, create good-paying jobs, and empower our universities to help reverse the brain drain.”
On August 29, Letlow marked two decades since Hurricane Katrina struck Louisiana. She posted: “20 years ago today, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in our state – creating catastrophic flooding and taking far too many lives. As we reflect on the 20th Anniversary, may we remember the lives lost and work toward a more resilient future for our Gulf Coast.”
Letlow has represented Louisiana’s 5th District since 2021 after succeeding Ralph Abraham. She was born in Monroe in 1981 and currently resides in Start. Before joining Congress, she served in the Louisiana House of Representatives and graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a BA degree.
