Congresswoman Julia Letlow, representing Louisiana’s 5th District since 2021, has recently made several public statements via social media. Her posts cover a range of topics from tax legislation to constitutional amendments.
On July 9, 2025, Letlow announced her participation in an interview with Brian Haldane, scheduled for that morning. She mentioned the discussion would focus on “the Big Beautiful Bill and more,” and invited followers to “listen live”.
Later that day, Letlow highlighted a significant aspect of the One Big, Beautiful bill. She stated that “over 90% of Louisianans use the Standard Deduction when filing their taxes.” According to her post, this legislation aims to make permanent the doubled standard deduction. Single filers would be able to deduct $15,750 while married filers could deduct $31,500. Letlow described a higher standard deduction as “the ultimate” advantage for taxpayers in Louisiana. In another post from the same day, Letlow expressed her support for a constitutional amendment banning the burning of the American flag. She stated that “the flag is an amazing symbol of our freedom and national unity,” emphasizing the need to protect it as a tribute to those who have fought for American freedoms.
