Congresswoman Julia Letlow, representing Louisiana’s 5th district since 2021, has been actively discussing legislative measures on social media. Her recent tweets highlight the “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” a legislative proposal aimed at supporting various sectors including law enforcement, families, and farmers.
On July 4, 2025, Letlow emphasized support for law enforcement and other overtime workers through the bill. She stated that “The One Big, Beautiful Bill eliminates taxes on up to $12,500 in annual overtime pay for hourly workers – including for many of our brave law enforcement officers.”
Later the same day, she addressed family support measures within the bill. According to her tweet at 19:41 UTC, “The One Big, Beautiful Bill supports families by expanding the Child Tax Credit and Adoption Tax Credit while providing more incentives for paid leave and childcare.” The bill aims to permanently extend the doubled Child Tax Credit along with additional financial provisions.
On July 5, 2025, Letlow turned her attention to agricultural interests in Louisiana. In her post from that day she noted that “The One Big, Beautiful Bill delivers huge wins for our Louisiana farmers at the heart of our economy and food system.” The proposed legislation includes updates to reference prices for local commodities and extends a tax deduction beneficial to family farms.
Born in Monroe in 1981 and now residing in Start, Letlow has a background in education with a BA from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Her career transitioned from serving in the Louisiana House of Representatives to Congress where she succeeded Ralph Abraham.
