Congresswoman Julia Letlow, who represents Louisiana’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on her legislative work and community engagement through a series of posts on social media.
On September 3, 2025, Letlow posted about recent developments affecting the Angola prison in her district: “Thanks to investments provided by the Big Beautiful Bill, the Angola prison located in my district will now hold some of the most violent, criminal illegal immigrants. I share President Trump’s priority of securing the border and increasing public safety.”
In another update dated September 4, 2025, she described her activities during August: “Throughout August I traveled across the 5th District to visit with constituents, listen to their concerns, and gather input about issues we can address in Congress. Later that same day, Letlow highlighted her meeting with veterans and retired military officers in Baton Rouge: “Recently caught up with veterans and retired military officers in Baton Rouge to discuss how we are modernizing our military and supporting the heroes who defend our nation’s freedoms.”
Letlow has represented Louisiana’s 5th District since 2021 after succeeding Ralph Abraham. Before serving in Congress, she was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. Born in Monroe in 1981 and currently residing in Start, Letlow graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a bachelor’s degree.
