Congresswoman Julia Letlow, who has represented Louisiana’s 5th District in the U.S. Congress since 2021, recently shared several policy positions and regional updates via social media. Letlow, a Monroe native and University of Louisiana at Monroe graduate, addressed topics ranging from federal benefits for immigrants to child care affordability and economic development in Northeast Louisiana.
On July 15, 2025, Letlow commented on public assistance policies regarding undocumented immigrants. She stated: “When illegal immigrants receive public assistance, it takes money from vulnerable Americans who truly need help and disrespects the hard-working taxpayers who fund the government. @POTUS is putting America First by cracking down.”
Later that day, Letlow highlighted legislative efforts to support families with child care expenses. In her post dated July 15, 2025, she wrote: “The Big Beautiful Bill allows families to save more for child care through pre-tax accounts – the first increase to the benefit in nearly 40 years. Addressing child care affordability for working moms and dads will continue to be a top priority of mine.”
In a subsequent update on July 15, 2025, Letlow discussed business investment in her district. She said: “Meta’s investment in Richland Parish is already creating more interest in Northeast Louisiana from outside businesses – opportunities that will lead to a brighter future for our region. Excited to see what the future holds!”
Letlow succeeded Ralph Abraham in Congress after previously serving in the Louisiana House of Representatives. At age 42, she resides in Start, Louisiana.
