Congresswoman Julia Letlow, who represents Louisiana’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of issues affecting her constituents and beyond in a series of posts on social media between November 3 and November 4, 2025.
On November 3, Letlow highlighted concerns about the impact of a government shutdown on essential services for Louisiana families. She wrote, “Louisiana families don’t want a government shutdown – particularly with food assistance programs like SNAP and WIC in danger. I voted to keep the government open and SNAP operational, but political games are still winning out. This shutdown has to end.”
Later that day, she expressed support for former President Donald Trump’s actions regarding religious persecution abroad. In her post dated November 3, Letlow stated, “Thank you President Trump for holding Nigeria accountable as Christians are kidnapped and killed simply for practicing their faith.”
On November 4, Letlow congratulated Dr. Wade Rousse on his appointment as president of Louisiana State University (LSU). She said, “Congrats to new LSU President Dr. Wade Rousse! I look forward to working with him to continue LSU’s growth and advance higher education in Louisiana.”
Letlow has represented Louisiana’s 5th district since replacing Ralph Abraham in Congress in 2021. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she served in the Louisiana House of Representatives. Born in Monroe, Louisiana in 1981 and currently residing in Start at age 42, Letlow is an alumna of the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
