Congresswoman Julia Letlow, who represents Louisiana’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on February 23, 2026, addressing issues ranging from cartel violence in Mexico to federal funding for border security and support for local farmers.
In her first post of the day, Letlow issued a warning to her constituents traveling abroad: “Travel Alert for any Louisianans in Mexico: With ongoing cartel violence, residents of Louisiana’s 5th District currently in Mexico who need assistance should contact my office or the U.S. Embassy immediately. My team can help. Please call us at (225) 952-1390 as soon as” (February 23, 2026).
Later that afternoon, she commented on recent events and legislative gridlock: “This weekend saw rising cartel violence in Mexico and an armed gunman storming @realdonaldtrump’s home, yet DC Democrats continue to block funding for @DHSGov. Why don’t they want to pay our nation’s border patrol officers and Secret Service agents?” (February 23, 2026).
In a subsequent post the same day, Letlow expressed gratitude for new agricultural support measures: “Thank you @SecRollins and @POTUS for moving quickly to set up the Farmer Bridge Assistance program, providing stability for our row crop producers facing market disruptions. Producers can apply for aid at their local FSA office or online at https://t.co/yTPDmkVgCa” (February 23, 2026).
Letlow has served as U.S. Representative since replacing Ralph Abraham in 2021 and previously held a seat in the Louisiana House of Representatives. Born in Monroe in 1981 and residing in Start, she is an alumna of the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
