Congresswoman Julia Letlow, who represents Louisiana’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on April 9, 2026, addressing cancer prevention, border security, and prescription drug prices.

In her first post of the day, Letlow highlighted the importance of early cancer detection. She wrote, “April is Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Month, a reminder of how vital regular screenings are for catching cancer when it is most treatable. This month and throughout the year, I remain committed to advocating for crucial early detection screenings.” (April 9, 2026)

Later that day, Letlow expressed gratitude toward President Biden and Secretary of Homeland Security Mark Mullin for their actions on immigration enforcement. She stated, “Thank you @POTUS and @SecMullinDHS for protecting public safety by securing the border and deporting illegal immigrants.” (April 9, 2026)

In her final post on April 9, Letlow addressed concerns about healthcare costs during her travels in Louisiana. She wrote: “While traveling Louisiana, I continue to hear about the need for lower prescription drug prices. President Trump is leading the way to make prescription drug prices more affordable for Americans. I look forward to working with my colleagues to support President Trump and codify” (April 9, 2026)

Letlow has served as U.S. Representative since 2021 after succeeding Ralph Abraham in Louisiana’s 5th district. Before joining Congress, she was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. Born in Monroe in 1981 and currently residing in Start at age 42, Letlow graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a BA in 2002.
