Mayor Friday Ellis announced on May 12 that City of Monroe facilities will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day. All city offices are scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, May 26.

The announcement affects several city services. Trash pickup that would normally occur on Monday, May 25 has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 27. City Court will also be closed to the public on Memorial Day and will resume normal operations the following day.

Monroe Transit will not operate on Monday, May 25 but is set to reopen with regular service on Tuesday, May 26. However, the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo as well as Chennault Golf Course will remain open to the public during the holiday.

The adjustments are part of standard procedures observed by municipal governments during federal holidays. Residents are advised to plan accordingly for any changes in city services.
